These pieces, entitled ‘galaxy’ currently on show @theforgespace as part of the Metropolis showcase, are inspired by the Tolvan Stone in Cornwall, one of many holed megalithic stones, some of which form parts of much larger stone circles or structures.

Dating from at least the Bronze Age, we have no idea what the holes were used for or what they represent. Some align with the sun, some people say they connect to larger cosmological themes. Traditions connecting them to fertility, childbirth and curing ailments by passing through them, or that they were a doorway into the interior of a structure long since disappeared, or between realms..
